Canopy was established in 2016 (originally named Biodiverse Carbon) to develop verified carbon credits from Greening Australia’s reforestation programs.
Canopy is now one of the largest producers of carbon credits from biodiverse environmental plantings in Australia, and is expanding into emerging environmental credit markets like water quality and biodiversity.
Canopy supports business, government and private investors to take action on the dual crises of climate change and biodiversity loss by helping them develop high impact nature-based solutions and selling high integrity environmental credits.
As a for-purpose company of Greening Australia, we work closely together on science-led projects that rebuild nature at a landscape scale to restore biodiversity, improve water quality and sequester carbon.
These scaled up nature-positive solutions produce high integrity environmental credits and simultaneously create meaningful change for communities, economies and nature: helping vulnerable species, providing alternative income streams for First Nations Peoples and landholders, employing local contractors, and creating long-term protection for restored sites.
As a Signatory to the voluntary Australia Carbon Industry Code of Conduct, Canopy is committed to developing and conducting our business in line with industry best practice and in a professional and ethical manner.
